South Tower Golden Gate Bridge Windsurfing
a light 15 knot breeze, but with an unusually strong ebb current flowing out of the gate.
In fact, the wind was so light that few if any other windsurfers were out on the water.
On these strong ebb tides the water is smooth as glass.
This location at the south tower was the only place where a windsurfer could possibly plane up.
Only possible because the light 15 mph wind was increased by the opposite direction 7 knot ebb resulting in approximately 22 mph apparent wind speed on the fin.
The risk was that the wind could suddenly die down and the strong ebb would then take me out to sea.
